Big John’s Books

Big John's Books is Lethbridge’s longest-running bookstore, offering a large, well-organized selection of gently used books for every kind of reader.

Built by a book lover for book lovers, the store is all about that unmistakable joy of discovering the book you’ve been searching for. Every visitor is welcomed into a space that celebrates the love of reading and the thrill of a great find.

The business has been a staple in Lethbridge for 63 years, known as Baxter’s Books for the first 50. For 20 of those years, Grace Hing, the owner’s aunt, ran the store with care and dedication.

The current owner began working part-time at Baxter’s Books in his late teens, learning the trade from his aunt. When she fell ill, he stepped in to manage the store full time and eventually purchased the business. Big John's Books was born soon after, continuing the tradition with a fresh name and a renewed mission: to provide a thoughtfully organized bookstore filled with gently used books at great prices.
