1st Choice Savings Health & Wellness Centre

The 1st Choice Savings Centre for Sport and Wellness, located at the University of Lethbridge, is a premier facility offering a wide range of recreational and athletic opportunities. Designed for both high-performance sports and community fitness, the centre features a triple gymnasium that hosts major sporting events, conferences, and speaking engagements. Multipurpose studios provide space for yoga, dance, and fitness classes for all ages, while the fitness centre includes state-of-the-art workout equipment and a four-lane, 200-metre indoor running track.

For climbing enthusiasts, the Ascent Climbing Centre offers a 2,000 sq. ft. modular climbing wall and a large bouldering cave in a fun, challenging environment. Additional amenities include family change rooms, steam rooms in the locker rooms, and ample parking.

A $31 million investment, the facility attracts thousands of students, athletes, and visitors annually and serves as the home of the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams. The centre has hosted national and provincial competitions, including CIS Basketball League games, the Alberta Summer Games, and the Canada-Wide Science Fair.

With a seating capacity of 2,000, three gym courts (two wooden, one synthetic), broadcast capabilities, a sports medicine clinic, and advanced scoring and timing systems, the venue is equipped for elite-level competition.
