Join us for the very first YQL Story Slam!
Enjoy true stories told live. The best story wins $100 and is judged by a handful of randomly selected audience members!
The first YQL Story Slam has a theme of “Found & Lost”, to be interpreted however the storytellers wish. Is it literally a lost everyday item? Or a lost connection? Or lost for purpose? Or found meaning? Or found a job? Or found a creature hiding under your porch?
Expect laughter, surprises, honesty, and connection.
There are only two rules:
Stories must be between 5 and 8 minutes long
Stories must be true and personal
Our first event (and likely the first few as we build some momentum) is free to attend.
Join us at Theoretically Brewing on June 16th. The show starts at 7pm and is open to all ages.
We will randomly select a handful of judges from the audience. If you are chosen, you will secretly rate each story from 1 to 10 on a ballot.
Come and enjoy great stories told well!
If you would like to be a storyteller, please tell us a little about your story here. We have eight story slots to fill, so not every storyteller may be able to participate this time. But we hope to do these monthly!
There is no cost to enter to tell a story. And the winner will receive a $100 cash prize.
Your story must be personal, must be true, and must be between 5 and 8 minutes long. This event is open to all ages, so consider this for the content of your story, please. No experience is required!
This isn’t about having the most incredible story to tell. Everyone has a story worth hearing. It’s more about how well the story is told. Captivate the audience. Make them feel. For a little inspiration when preparing your story, consider watching this TEDx talk.
