Godzilla Night

Dates & Times:
June 16, 7-10PM

A little-known fact about Henderson Lake is that deep below the surface rests a kaiju monster. Godzilla is starting to awaken and will be making landfall at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden on Sunday, June 16.

Join us for movie in the garden as we screen the original Godzilla outdoors on the big screen from 7-10PM. Enjoy the movie with popcorn and Godzilla melon bubble tea, but beware – Godzilla may be lurking in the shadows!

Nikka Yuko is pleased to host Dr. John Harding from the University of Lethbridge who will provide a presentation prior to the film. After studying Japanese religion, history and culture on both coasts in the USA along with research in Japan and one year at the University of Cambridge in England, John Harding received his Ph.D. from Penn in 2003. He then joined the Religious Studies Department at the U of L and has served on the Board of Directors for Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden for most of his years here in Lethbridge.

Dr Harding’s primary areas of interest include Japanese Buddhism and the cross-cultural exchange between Asia and the West that has shaped the development of modern and global Buddhism in the past century and a half. He also teaches Asian Studies courses including one on Buddhism and Film.
