The equinox is nearly upon us and signs of spring are all around – buds on the trees, bugs in the air, and birds everywhere! Everyone is invited to get outside and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Lethbridge river valley at the Helen Schuler Nature Centre’s Spring Nature Fest. The Nature Centre’s family festival takes place on Friday March 17th between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. to celebrate the arrival of spring.
Spring Nature Fest offers a mix of indoor and outdoor activities at the event, including: nature walks, scavenger hunts, crafts, building challenges, storytelling, solar scopes, outdoor games, trivia, live music, prizes, and more!
“I think everyone is excited to see the end of a long cold winter,” says Jessica Deacon-Rogers with the Helen Schuler Nature Centre. “Spring Nature Fest will be a nice way to celebrate the change of seasons with family.”
Bring your family to enjoy spring stories as told by the Lethbridge Public Library starting at 1:30 and 3:00pm. Take a closer look at the sun using solar scopes from 1:00-3:00pm with the Lethbridge Astronomy Society. Get moving with Alberta Parks as they share traditional Blackfoot games starting at 1:00pm. Explore the river valley with an interpreter on guided walks at 2:00pm and 4:00pm. The Lethbridge Buskers Association will be on site to perform live music every hour.
“Activities at Spring Nature Fest will focus on the signs of spring,” says Curtis Goodman with the Helen Schuler Nature Centre. “The weather forecast looks like we will have an amazing day to spend time outside!”
Spring Nature Fest will take place throughout the afternoon at no charge. With something for everyone, the family festival is a great chance to discover all that spring has to offer right in the heart of the city at your Nature Centre.
